Gorleston

Hooray, Mirabelle slept brilliantly! And thus we did decide to go to the always lovely Thursday playgroup and latterly to Gorleston for fish and chips, sun, sea, sand and then ice cream.

Oh

Day three started terribly with Mirabelle waking up at 3am and then crying and screaming for two and a half hours. We were not amused. Wednesday’s plans were always going to be odd due to Chloe needing to run the Beetle Bugs playgroup meaning no outside fun for us. After playgroup we headed to the city and had Pizza Hut buffet for lunch then did some shopping before returning home and then getting the girls to do some chalk painting on the path outside which they heartily enjoyed. Our original evening plans had consisted of Chloe and I going out to watch a movie but after the terrible night we elected to stay in so to round off a disappointing day we watched a disappointing film: Unbreakable.

Here’s hoping day four goes better.

Wensum and Waterloo Parks

After yesterday we decided to take it easy and visit one of Norwich’s many lovely historic parks. Wensum was chosen for proximity and general goodness so off we went with picnic in hand and excited little girls.

First we went to the playground:

Here’s Bee on a rather large slide:
Whoosh

Here’s Miri halfway up said large slide before deciding at the top she wanted “Down now please.” Cue one slightly too large Daddy going down the slide with her:
Peeps

After that we decided it was picnic time, fed some ducks, watched a man feed swans and cygnets from the palm of his hand and ate well. It was rather hot at this point as you may well imagine

It is indeed Summer

Then followed an impromptu decision to go to Waterloo Park as it’s only about 5 minutes away from Wensum Park and has a very big paddling pool:

Hometime soon followed and naps were had by the girls whilst Chloe and I rested from the heat and effort of pushing a double-pushchair laden with children and food all that way and back.

For the evening we scrubbed ourselves clean and went to The Fountain for burger goodness. A second impromptu decision afterwards led us to the Plantation Gardens which I’ve somehow never visited despite living in Norwich for the last nine years. The girls enjoyed exploring and spotting frogs in the fountain. I neglected to bring my camera so here’s a shot from my N95 8GB from the top of the Italian terrace:

Bewilderwood.

The girls loved it. Miri was a bit too small for some of it – namely the slides but Bee was too small for one thing only (zip slides). Despite the sun it was lovely and cool in amongst the trees so the girls didn’t flag at all. We were all absolutely shattered by the time we got home though.

Waiting for the arrival of the Bewilderboat. Miri was not a fan of said boat and didn’t want to get on it: “No, no, home! Home!”
