Big Beebe

It’s four weeks since Beebe’s birth and our daughter now weighs just over 9lb and has already grown out of her first gro’s which is kind of scary. This we noticed when we were in Aylesbury last week where we spent a very nice week and half relaxing, visiting and being visited by various people. It was great and very nice to be able to relax and not have to cook and clean and stuff for a week and a half. And now we’re back and after entertaining my parents this afternoon and evening we’re now settling down for bed. I will be sad when this week is over as I’m heading back to work on Monday which I will confess I’m not looking forward too that much.

Beebe has a name

An official one that is. She is to be known to the word at large as Beebe Manka-Taylor. The very first Manka-Taylor in the world (potentially).

With a trip to the registry office to give Beebe her official name planned for tomorrow now seems as good a time as any to reflect on how we’re doing. Although I’m currently typing with her held in the ant-colic position, or “Superbaby” as I’ve dubbed it which makes typing a little laborious.

She’s a little star, she sleeps pretty well and we’ve been getting most of the sleep we need to of an evening – she usually wakes up around 3 or 4am and again at 7ish for food which isn’t too bad. Chloe is breast-feeding but we’re interspersing that with bottle feeds of expressed milk and the odd mix of formula when the expressed stuff runs out which allows me to help with the feeding.

We’re still using disposable nappies for the moment as it’s just easier but have loads of re-usable ones of all shapes and sizes which I think we’re going to start using in a week or two. She’s already got through three packs of nappies and tends to need changing three or four times a day but I’m happy to change her so no worries there.

As to how she’s doing she seems quite bright and alert for an hour or two every day which is apparently normal, she’s got quite strong neck muscles and when hungry will wave her head around all over the shop searching for food, she’s managed to headbutt me a couple of times too! She may or may not have smiled as well but it could well have been gas (which she suffers from quite a lot). In all, she’s amazing and beautiful and we love her to pieces.

Consolidation

I’ve got rid of the Gaming Goodness blog and put all the entries on here instead, I thought it easier to maintain just the one blog.

Daddy Cool

Well, our little Beebe is now 6 days old so how are we finding parenthood so far? On the whole: good. We’ve had a couple of difficult nights, one as a result of how tired we both were and the other due to our little one having a growth spurt a couple of nights ago and a voracious appetite as a result. But apart from that she’s been an absolute pleasure, I’ll update with more detail at a later date, for now here’s more pictures.
