On Sunday we visited The Animal Ark which used to be Norfolk Wildlife Centre. We had no idea what to expect other than animals and also maybe an ark. As it was we were greeted by a handful of vaguely exotic animals along with assorted farm animals and some dodgy looking play equipment and things. As Chloe remarked to me: “It looks like someone’s back garden” and indeed it did. I was aware that it had to downsize from the Wildlife Centre but didn’t know what it used to be like. I believe my general comments were along the lines of “It looks like it used to be much bigger but has had to scale right down to a glorified farm”. However, despite our misgivings and disappointment Bee and Miri had fun and it wasn’t quite as sparse as we feared so it served a purpose. Plus it was kind of nice to wander around and not have lots of appeals for your money as you’d get at other zoo type attractions.

On getting home I looked the place up and found this article explaining how it all went horribly wrong for the owners which is all quite depressing and gives the attraction an odd out of touch feel.

Still, it could have been worse.
