The holiday is over (boo!), we’ve driven almost 1200 miles since we set off and have in effect traveled from the East all the way to the West of this fair isle. I think it’s safe to say we all had a great time, especially Beebe who was surrounded by lots of people to entertain and play with her and mountains of food to eat. We walked a lot and I took lots of photos (over 500), I would have taken more I’m sure if the weather had been a bit nicer. It was such a good atmosphere while we were there and despite there being 10 of us in the house there were very few, if any, arguments and clashes. Hooray for holidays!

Almost over

Our holiday is slowly drawing to a close as we’ll be heading for home, via Aylesbury, on Friday :( It’s been fantastic and we’ve done loads and loads and it’ll be a shame to return to normal life.

The past few days we’ve been up to the Beacon near us and enjoyed some great views:

To St Ives (and no, the man with 7 wives was not present, I did look for him):

Back to Newquay where we bought presents for home and had a nice cream tea and then today we went to Padstow. Padstow was lovely and we even enjoyed some more sunshine whilst there. We also had some of Rick Stein’s fish and chips which were very impressive indeed. I also bought more fudge, natch.

We’re off out for pizza tonight at the pub at the top of the hill. We went there last week for steak night and it was mmmm, good so we’re hoping for a repeat performance.

The holiday continues apace, lots more photos taken and a few days of sunshine at last! We’ve all been having a wonderful time so far, Bee’s in her element and has continued to eat and eat and eat, we’re both good if slightly tired today – we had a busy day yesterday driving to Lizard and then on to Land’s End (photos below). Today we went to Newquay Zoo which was very good indeed, photos from that later though…

That famous signpost, it was oddly quiet at Land’s End which was good until we realised that all the attractions (including the Dr. Who exhibition) shut 5 minutes after we arrived and we didn’t realise. Grrrr:

View from Lizard Point (Southern-most point of mainland England). We stopped at a lovely cafe here for lunch and I had a gorgeous Apple and Blackberry pie, it was very tasty indeed:

Porthtowan

Porthtowan is the next village down the coast from us, we drove there last night and wandered up onto the cliffs as the sun was setting….

Went to Perranporth and wandered along the beach.
Had some very nice honey and ginger ice cream.
Bought some delicious fudge.
Went to Falmouth and had a gorgeous Cornish Pasty.
Visited the cove down the road from our house and witnessed honest to goodness sunshine!
Ate a very tasty steak.
Drove up and down many, many hills.

Still to do:

Visit Truro, Land’s End, Lizard point and a few more places besides.
Return to Falmouth to see a bit more of the place.
Go for some walks around where we’re staying.
Eat more ice cream.
Eat more fudge.

And now some pictures:
