Was getting the washing in last night when I noticed movement in next door’s garden, I quickly looked over and saw a tail running off behind their shed. I knew right away it was too large for a cat and I couldn’t imagine it’d be a dog out on its own so my first thought was fox despite how unlikely this might be. I decided to creep round for a closer look. And what did I see? This:
It was indeed a young fox cub, just sat behind the rubbish. I quickly ran in to get my camera and called Chloe out. He didn’t appear to be scared of us and let us come right up to him. It appeared he wasn’t injured but he was shaking a lot and looked scared and a bit dopey so we were a bit concerned. I came back in and had a quick look on the RSPCA’s site for help on what to do – they advised to basically leave it be but perhaps put out some food if the fox is injured. We decided to put a bowl of milk out, he seemed reluctant at first but then lapped a little.
We headed back in to leave him alone and watch a movie (the remake of The Fog, it was rubbish). When we went back out to check on him at 10.30 he’d gone, and so had all the milk. We hope he’s OK.
