On Saturday we returned to London with both girls in tow this time. Bee was very excited by the prospect of it:
“I will go on a train to the City!”
“I will go to London”
“It will be a special benture” (we later worked out she meant ‘adventure’)
When on the train she was also quite excited:
“The man said ‘Mind the gap’”
“Lady said ‘City’” (on nearing the Hammersmith & City line)
Miri loved the trains too, especially the whoosh as the trains approached the platforms.
First, we went to the Aquarium (2 for 1 with an Oyster card btw) which Bee was very excited about, despite the lack of an Octopus. “Where’s the Octopus Daddy? I want to see him.”
Everyone seemed quite enamoured with the sharks but I liked the jellyfish best. They look so cool.
After the Aquarium we had an ice cream next to the Eye and returned to Volume so Bee could have a look at it and a run around. “I am making it work Mummy. Look!” Miri kept trying to touch the lights and laughing her little head off so I know she had a good time too.
After that we wandered past the Tate Modern, didn’t really have time to go in as we were heading for food but did see the Street Art exhibition on (very large) display outside:
We crossed the Jubilee bridge towards St Paul’s where we saw the below yellow…thing…. No idea what it’s for as it was empty inside. Looked rather cool though.
After trudging round trying to find an open Tube station we managed to finally get back to Leicester Square where we had a terrible, terrible dining experience before heading home, very tired but happy from a very good day out – both girls fell asleep on the train before we’d even left Baker Street.
