I played around with the beta of it yesterday. I’ve already given up on iPhoto for the most part as it’s far too slow now (although apparently much better with iLife 06) and have been using iView Media which is very fast and has lots more power cataloguing functions than iPhoto. Apple’s Aperture is far too resource hungry for me with my little old 1.5GHz G5 so with Lightroom’s much more meagre requirements I thought I’d give it a go.
I’ve only imported about 50 photos so far just to try it out but I like how it looks and works and it’s pretty straightforward. It’d be nice to be able to delete folders from the Photo Library but perhaps that’ll come with a later version. For a beta, it’s pretty polished so far anyway.
