This is how it began:

At this point we panicked that the marquee, described as “big” by the marquee erection (tee hee!) people was actually too small. However once it was up and populated our fears were mostly alleviated. I still think a slightly larger marquee would have been “better” but that would probably have cost a lot more money too!
My Mum made us lots of bunting in our official wedding colours:

The friendly neighbourhood farmer made a bridge for us from the car park to the orchard:

Our “head” table, lacking in favours and glasses but with some big letters instead:

The mighty Pom-poms:

A crack team of engineers friends and family worked all night making these but with me as their instructor and leader success was well assured.
Here’s a pile of all of the pom-poms after they were taken down:

Chloe and the girls baked, Chloe iced, I bagged and Chloe tied. We had brownies and sugar cookies and they both tasted very good indeed (it took a long time to bag and tie them and I got hungry, OK?)
Centrepieces:

The jars were ordered ages ago, they were filled with paper hearts cut from books and magnetic poetry.

(Random) books were added to “cement” the centrepieces.

These flowers were placeholders for the sunflowers which only arrived with us after the ceremony. Oh, look here they are:
Stones:

Stones “borrowed” from various Norfolk and Suffolk beaches and decorated by my amazing wife. They will be returned, honest!
Photos:

We had a photo timeline showing us two as children and then documenting our time together along with pictures of family and friends, it worked very well and drew a lot of comments as we hoped it would.
The timeline also doubled as space for the comment cards we asked people to write/doodle on:

I worried people wouldn’t fill them out but we had quite a selection by the end of the evening.
My second surprise of the day:

We had a chocolate fountain! This pleased me no end. It was very popular, especially the profiteroles.
